Why is it that huge fast food chains like McDonalds is so successful?

When the subject comes up over 75% of the people I talk to say it’s the nastiest thing ever (it is!). But if it’s so nasty then how is it still successful? After talking to my english teacher (indirectly) it became clear, there are people out there who don’t want flavor, they don’t even want to eat, they just need the food.

Even listening to the language of people who eat fast food on a daily or even bi-daily basis shows they aren’t eating out, they are “grabbing food.”  Grabbing food like they’re running a triathlon and food just becomes another obstacle.

Convenience is also a point brought up to prove eating fast food. However cooking food in bulk is much more convenient especially if you cook it during the endless hours of being on the computer. Cooking at home is also many times cheaper seeing as the price for one full fast food meal can come to ten dollars while a pack of tortillas and cheese costs much less and goes further.

The bottom line is that we are becoming disconnected from our meals.

We’ve lost the feeling of meals we created or grown for ourselves to apathy and commercials with flashy lights. Think twice before eating fast food, because food should never be “fast.”
